Audiosurf just got updated today in Steam. Update it and ye shall recieve a somewhat better Audiosurf.

So, I ran Steam when I woke up this morning and I was surprised. Steam’s updating again?!?.

Yeah, I was expecting the update meter on Team Fortress 2, probably more on those bugs and exploit fixes on Gold Rush, if there where any. I was wrong. The update meter was on Audiosurf and I say, yay. Because when Audiosurf updates, the more and more I feel that the game really is worth buying for its cheap price ($9.99) and gameplay.

The updates were pretty good. The ones to note were:

• Last.fm integration
• Mod Extensibility (that means modders can mess with the game more than previously.)
• Some game improvements
• Comment Tab on songs
• Fixes

They say that the Last.fm update was the greatest. I can tell, but I never tried the service before so… no comment. The modifications seemed interesting, as people can now change certain textures and special effects of the game. just on the visual side though and not on scripting-whatnot so far. I may be wrong though.

Lastly, the improvements. Audiosurf was way less of a hassle now. For instance, whenever you load Audiosurf, a News page always shows up while it loads. That’s good and all but once the loading ends, so does your reading. Another is that you can skip the character screens now, meaning that you can select the song rightaway after selecting a character instead of seeing another screen in between.

Just slight improvements for the typical user, and major benefits for the Last.fm user.
